First Post

Well, now that I've created a blog page, what do I do now? Why would anyone want to read it anyway? Who knows, and why not!

I (with my family) have now been in NZ a year. And what a year!

I have the amazing privilege of being a leader in a great church, The Meeting House. It's a multi-national church with over 9 different nationalities meeting together and exploring what it means to be people of faith in a community that doesn't care too much about anything - let alone church. So it's been a year of experiments on the church front, some have failed miserably, others are making a difference.

Along with the church work I have had the opportunity to speak in the USA, at MOKAN ROOTS 2006 in Kansas City, Missouri and to travel again to Sri Lanka in my role with The Salvation Army's International Emergency Services team.

It's been a busy year - but it's about to get busier! This year I take over as The Salvation Army NZ's Overseas Development Officer, (at the same time as being a leader in the church).

So on Monday (29) I'm off to Fiji for the week. This'll be my first trip to this Pacific nation and I am looking forward to meeting the people and evaluating and exploring development projects.

So until next post...
